A SWEET Dutch hotel

Goooooooooooood morning Vietnam! Welcome back to Travel Onist—the weekly email that brings you some of the best travel experiences the world has to offer.

Thanks to one of our brilliant readers (shoutout to Caitlyn), this edition comes at you 1 day early, so you can all give your email inbox a well-deserved weekend off. Think of Friday as your new T.O. day!

Here’s what we’re serving up today:

A SWEET Dutch hotel

A bar that serves a world record of 2004 different beers

A gem of the “ski the east” movement

The best bargain in American nature

Stay

Leave it to Amsterdam to come up with a place like this—a hotel, that isn’t really a hotel, but is certifiably dope. The SWEETS hotel is a collection of 28 restored, iconic bridge houses on Amsterdam’s canals. These unassuming little canal coves offer views of the famous Amsterdam waterways for you to experience the city from a new perspective. If you can’t fathom what these rooms look like (I don’t blame you, I couldn’t) click on the link and see for yourselves.

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

For all the beer lovers out there, Delirium is a must-visit! I’d also like to say that they have my vote for the best logo of any product ever. The Delirium Cafe features a world record of 2004 beers from around the world, but it’s just one of the options in this cozy little beer hive. But with great fame, comes great crowds. So show up earlier in the day or evening to grab yourself a table. And wear some stretchy pants…you might be here awhile.

Experience

For any of you West Coast US snow bombers, I know I know. East Coast skiing? Really? Well listen, we’re not all as spoiled as you are ok? And as far as east coast skiing goes, this is as good as it gets. And there’s something to be said for saving money too. Not only is it far more affordable than other high-quality ski destinations on the east coast, but it’s bigger, and the French Canadian vibe makes for a more relaxed and quaint ski village versus some of the other gaudy and high-end spots in the East.

Carry On

For most Americans, myself included, it can be pretty easy to get caught up in the treasures of countries abroad while forgetting that your spoiled little petunia resides in a country with some of the best and most diverse National Parks in the world. For $80/year, you can get access to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites across the country. This pass often covers a vehicle and everyone in it rather than just one person, but it does depend on the park. That’s a 25-cent wing kinda deal if you ask me.
