Here’s something you don’t see every day… surfing hippos. That’s right—Look at that fella! These big, beautiful units like to hang ten off the coast of Gabon. No silly, they don’t have surfboards… but anytime you see a massive creature like that doing anything remotely human, it’s sure to bring a smile to your face. The best part? This discovery and the accompanying photos led to 11% of Gabon’s land being turned into protected wilderness in the 2-year span from 2000-2002. Also referred to as “Africa’s Last Eden,” Loango National Park is certainly worth adding to your bucket list.
