A New Take on Pizza Coming From Kyoto

Thanks to all 28 of you for tuning into T.O., where I scour the globe, the internet, and the content universe to bring you some of the coolest places and experiences from this great big sphere we call home.

Call me Aladdin because I can show you the wooooorrlld đŸŽ¶ .

Now because this content is from a smorgasbord of different places, I’m going to do a better job of telling you all where each piece comes from. Those that have been personally travel tested by yours truly, will bear a fancy new stamp of approval. Hope this helps!

Here’s what we’re dishing out today:

Guatemala’s most magical hotel

New take on pizza coming from Kyoto

Cooking class with a family who brings Italian pasta and coffee WITH THEM wherever they travel

Your resource for sustainable, community based tourism

Stay

La Casa del Mundo – Guatemala's most magical hotel

I found this neat little boutique hotel entrenched in the depths of Instagram Reels. Situated right on Lake Atitlán, this hotel has a really cool vibe. Although you’ll have to work for it (it’s only accessible by boat or by foot), the views of volcanos over the lake are well worth it.

Guatemala seems like a country that is criminally overlooked, but views like this have it skyrocketing to the top of my shortlist. Hawaiian views for not so Hawaiian prices
what’s not to like?

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

Monk—Kyoto, Japan

I know what you’re thinking. Pizza
in JAPAN? WTF are you talking about? Well, if you’d just shut up and listen, I’ll tell you 😊. Featured on Chef’s Table, this Japanese take on pizza may have most New Yorkers screaming “Blasphemy,” but for the rest of us who enjoy a little spice in our lives, this refreshing take on an international favorite has me wanting to book a flight to Kyoto immediately.

Experience

Does the taste of fresh olive oil pressed from olives grown in the backyard sound appealing to you? How about a riveting conversation with a family that so loves their country’s cuisine that they bring Italian pasta and coffee WITH THEM wherever they travel? I promise you will not succeed in convincing them that your home country’s food is better, and personally, I wouldn’t want my cooking class any other way.

*WARNING* it wouldn’t be the worst idea to skip one or two meals that day. OR you can commit the cardinal sin of letting fresh made ravioli and tiramisu sit uneaten in front of a passionate Italian couple
the choice is yours.

Carry On

Now as you know, here at Travel Onist, we take traveling sustainably and responsibly very seriously. This Canadian-based company can help you on that journey as well. Planeterra helps promote travel experiences “owned, led, and run by communities” in tourist markets around the world—ultimately ensuring that money from tourism coming into these communities stays in these communities.
