Featuring City Guide #2, Vamos!

Happy Friday and welcome to the Travel Onist. Who needs hours of travel research when I bring the travel inspiration straight to your inbox? Let’s get into it 👇

Here’s what’s on tap today:

The best meat I’ve had to date

Lavender fields in an unsuspecting location

Stay in Stockholm

As many of you may know by now, I typically enjoy unique stays over chain hotels, but I can’t resist meeting in the middle for a good value points play. This is why I love the different hotel collections that Marriott has to offer.

Take the Blique for instance, a part of Marriott’s “Design Hotels” portfolio. An unsuspecting, modern hotel tucked away in the city of Stockholm. The hotel includes some great amenities like a rooftop and courtyard bar both complete with a DJ, in typical Swedish style (any Avicii fans out there?). There’s even a sauna in the basement. We weren’t quite able to get that humming, but in their defense, we didn’t try too hard. This hotel is in a great spot to explore the city. I’d recommend scooters as the most efficient form of transportation. They’re everywhere in Stockholm! 🛴

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry in Croatia

Restaurant Luciana Barboj - Umag, Croatia

This local spot a few miles from the Adriatic serves up the best meat I've ever had in my life. It was the kind of meal that, as full as I felt, I could always manage to find room for more. AND savored every. single. bite. We ate sausages, cheese-stuffed meatballs, fresh tomatoes, and cucumbers topped with cheese; all as fresh as can be. Complete with house wine for the table *chef’s kiss* 🤌. There’s just nothing I love more than sitting down in a new place and eating like the locals. Hasn’t steered me wrong yet!

Experience in Turkey

Kuyucak Köyü - Isparta, Turkey

When most travelers think of lavender fields, their minds jump to Provence, France, but few know of this under-the-radar spot in Turkey. Kuyucak is located in the Turkish Lakes region, a hidden gem in and of itself. The area produces roughly 90% of the country’s lavender. For planning purposes, blooms typically begin around the end of May. Sounds like a great trip to kick off the summer 🤔.
