The Best Pastry I've Ever Had
Happy Friday and happy T.O. day to you and your loved ones. Speaking of loved ones, are they really loved ones if you’re keeping all the Travel Onist goodness to yourself? If you’ve liked what you’ve read, spread the love!
A couple new things I want to highlight this week:
I’ve assembled all of my past recommendations into a handy archives section at the bottom of the page, organized by category.
I’m trying something new in the carry-on section this week with a city guide.
Reply to let me know what you think!
Here’s what’s on the docket for today:
2020's best hostel in the world
The best pastry I’ve ever had
What happens when you combine snorkeling, rafts, and rainforest?
First city guide!
Stay
With numerous Hostel World distinctions to its name, this place is a real humdinger. Offering authentic experiences hosted by Colombians, Los Patios is your tour guide and social circle all in one. You just can’t do much better than the best hostel in the world in one of the most vibrant cities in the world.
After opening the original location in 2017, Los Patios has opened a newer hostel in Cartagena, along with a new concept called “Cool Living” also in Medellin, that caters more towards digital nomads and remote workers.
Eat, Drink, and Be Merry
Manteigaria - Lisbon, Portugal
This place serves one thing and that one thing changed my life. Ok, technically two, but the second is coffee. These little custard pop pies are delightful. But I have to warn you, they are severely addicting. For any of my fellow sweet tooths out there, it will be incredibly difficult to cope with life apart from these beauties once you leave the city 😭. You’ll NEED to stop in at least once whenever you get to Lisbon…or every day…multiple times per day…whatever works for you.
Experience
Ever wanted to partake in a wildlife tour, rainforest walk, and lazy river all mixed into one? Didn’t know that was an option? Yeah, me neither. Let me introduce you to Australian River Drift Snorkeling. Swim, drift, and explore the Mossman River in the Daintree Rainforest located in the Northeast tip of Queensland.
For those of you worried about crocs (no I’m not talking about the fashion-forward shoe brand), don’t worry. T.O. already thought of that for you 🤗. This tour operates in a croc free stretch of water.
Carry On
Check out T.O.’s first city guide! I would really love to hear your thoughts on this first iteration so I can make these as incredible as you all deserve.
